Hydro Testing
Hydrostatic testing (also known as "hydro-testing" or "pressure testing") is the process of checking piping systems, gas cylinders, builders, and pressure vessels for strength and leakage.
Hydrostatic testing is often conducted after shutdowns or during maintenance cycles, as equipment needs to be checked and validated before going back into service operation.
Hydro Testing at Crest Fire
At Crest Fire, our hydrostatic test consists of filling a piece of equipment with a fluid at test pressure for an industry-standard period to check for the existence of leakages – The test is passed if the equipment bears the test pressure without any leakage.
Hydrostatic testing is a common procedure to test piping equipment, like pipes, valves, and fittings (i.e. all products that shall withstand pressure when in operation.
At Crest Fire, our hydro test is executed by certified technicians using chlorinated water (or other coloured fluids) to check the existence of leakages in pressure-containing equipment. We take great pride in being able to offer the cylinder industry with all the equipment needed to properly fill and re-qualify cylinders to U.S. Department of Transportation and Transport Canada specifications.
